Kevin and
North Fork Ranch owner Dean May have two sections of river totaling 2 miles of
some of the most sought after private water in the Rocky Mountain area.
The North
Fork Ranch
The North Fork Ranch is just 7
miles south of Bailey right off Highway 285 with a little over 1/2 mile of
river, a stones throw from the back door of the lodge. This section of river is
nestled in a private valley far removed from the highway offering some of the
best holding water in the valley.
On the 1/2 mile of river,
we have over 1500 pounds of fish, making for some unbelievable fishing. Our
average fish runs in the 3 pound range, between 18-22 inches. It is not uncommon
to hook and if you're lucky enough, to land fish in the 5-7 pound class.
The dominate fish in this stretch of river are Rainbows followed by Cutbows,
Browns and an occasional Brook Trout. If you enjoy fly fishing at its best, you
won't want to miss fishing at the North Fork Ranch.
The North Fork Meadows
The North Fork Meadows is our
newest section of river. The Meadows is right off Highway 285 across the pond
from the Shawnee Post Office. The Meadows offers 1 1/2 miles of river
as well as a nine acre lake on the property.
On
this section the water meanders through a large alpine meadow and is a fantastic
place to hunt trout.
The fish on the Meadows property
are in the 2-1/2 pound range but it is not uncommon to catch fish in
the 3-4 pound class. When the fish are rising, the Meadows can offer some
unbelievable dry fly fishing.
To preserve and protect the environment of these
pristine stretches of river, we only allow guided fishing trips. Please visit
our calendar to check availability or call Kevin at 303-478-1349.
